I just loved this spot. Me and my husband came here for date night on a Saturday about 6pm. Wasn't sure what to expect. There weren't many people in there but the music was great. We got seated and looked at the menu. There were so many options so I asked the waitress for suggestions. She gave me a few and mentioned the specials for the night which was lamb chops and pasta. I was sold. My husband got the tropical nachos. I ordered a monster size Huckleberry margarita and it was HUGE. It was delicious and so was our food. Between the food, drinks and music, I was in paradise. This will be our occasional place for date night. Looking forward to trying my next dish.

I promise if you are looking for great food, great drinks and an excellent friendly vibe…this is the place to be! The owner makes sure everyone is satisfied. The vibe he brings is different than ANY Mexican restaurant. The lamb chops are A MUST!!!!

I tried JJs Tropical twice. The first time was when it first opened and again last week. The food is not good. The first time, I tried the tamales. The tamales were super thick with very little beef. The Second time, I ordered lemon pepper chicken wings. The wings were over cooked, hard and try with very little seasoning. I ask for more seasoning and was given a lot of lemon pepper. The server we had was really enjoying himself. He was enjoying himself so much we couldn't get a hold of him if we needed anything and he was drinking on the job. The music was too loud to try to converse with anyone. A lot of Mexican restaurants turn into clubs after 5pm. This just wasn't my environment to enjoy and eat. Just know a side of twerking maybe served with your entree. There was a guy literally dry humping behind a girl twerking in the walk way. This just wasn't my type of vibe. I won't come back.

Had a great experience at JJ’s Tropical on Germantown Pkwy! Food and service was excellent. I ordered a salmon rice bowl which was yummy. We ordered a jalapeño margarita and a blackberry margarita ! Very good drinks for a decent price. They serve more than Latin themed cuisine including menu items like wings and catfish. Be sure to check out JJ’s when visiting or dining in Memphis 🙂
